Help & questions

Frequently asked

The questions we get most. If yours isn't here, do drop us a line. We love a good email and a chance to get to know our customers.

Products

What's in your wax melts and candles?
We use minimal ingredients: pure beeswax, coconut oil, and natural essential oils for fragrance. Dried flowers for decoration and scent. No paraffin, no mica minerals for colour.
Are your candles vegan?
No. Beeswax is the heart of much of what we make. We have great respect and love for bees, but the candles aren't suitable for a vegan choice. If you would like a plant-based product then please contact us for options like soya wax candles.
Will the beeswax change colour or texture over time?
Yes, gently. Pure beeswax can develop a soft white "bloom" on the surface, which is the natural waxes rising. It's a sign of quality, not spoiling. Warm the surface lightly with a hairdryer or your hand and the bloom melts back in. Colour may also depend on where our bees have foraged for pollen. Hue and tone can be a little different depending on the landscape.
Do you sell honey?
Honey will be coming to our shop. Sign up to our newsletter while the bees are busy preparing it. They will buzz you when it's ready.
Tell me about your wildflower seeds.
We sell a small range of bee-friendly UK wildflower mixes, for sunny patches, window boxes, or an afternoon with children and watering cans. They sow happily from early spring through to early autumn. Check the item on our shop page for sowing details, or read our sowing guide for more.
Can you put together a bespoke gift set?
Yes, gladly. We can pull together a parcel combining our work with a handwritten note. Email us with a rough idea (budget, occasion, anything to avoid) and we will gladly suggest options for you.

Looking after your purchase

How do I get the best burn from a beeswax candle?
Beeswax candles are clean-burning when looked after. Burn times depend on the size of the candle, so please see individual product pages for the specifics. For everything else (first burn, wick care, draughts, safety) see our guide to using candles and wax melts.
How do I use my beeswax wax melts?
Place a melt in a suitable wax burner, light a tealight beneath, or use an electric wax warmer if you prefer no open flame. Don't over-stack melts in your burner, and let the wax cool fully before handling. Full instructions and safety notes are in our guide to using candles and wax melts.
How do I look after a wooden piece?
Dust gently with a soft cloth. Once a year, wipe with a clean lint-free cloth and a touch of beeswax balm to keep the grain happy. Keep wood pieces out of direct sunlight and away from radiators to prevent drying or warping. If you use a wooden candle holder, always use a proper jar candle or a glass insert so wax doesn't touch the wood.
