1. Who you're contracting with
When you place an order on this site you enter a contract of sale
with Scribespire Limited ("we", "us"), a company
registered in England and Wales (company no.
15090317;
registered office: 1 The Briars, Waterberry Drive, Waterlooville, Hants, PO7 7YH).
"Oxfordshire Meadow & Hive" is a trading name of Scribespire
Limited.
2. These terms
By placing an order you confirm you've read these terms and accept them. We may update them from time to time; the version that applies to your order is the one in force at the moment you check out.
3. Placing an order
Items in your cart are an invitation to treat, not a contract. The contract is formed when we email you to confirm we've dispatched your order, not when you complete the checkout. Until that moment we may decline an order, for example, if an item turns out to be out of stock, if there was an obvious pricing error, or if we suspect fraud.
We'll always tell you why and refund any payment in full straight away.
4. Pricing and payment
- All prices on the site are in pounds sterling (GBP) and include UK VAT where applicable.
- Delivery is charged separately and shown at checkout.
- Payment is taken at the point of order, through Stripe. We never see your card details.
- If there's an obvious pricing error (e.g. a candle listed at £0.99 instead of £9.99), we'll contact you before fulfilling and you can cancel.
5. Delivery and risk
Delivery options, costs and timescales are set out on our Shipping & returns page. Risk in your goods passes to you at the moment they're delivered to the address you gave us.
We do our best with the dispatch dates we quote but they're estimates, not guarantees. If a delivery turns into something materially late, please get in touch, we'll work it out with you.
6. Your right to cancel (change of mind)
Under the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013 you have 14 calendar days from receiving your order to cancel, for any reason.
Cancel by emailing [email protected]. You then have a further 14 days to return the goods in resaleable condition. The return postage is yours; the refund (including the original delivery charge) is ours, within 14 days of getting the goods back.
Hygiene exception: cosmetic items (lip balms, balms, candles, melts) sealed for hygiene reasons cannot be returned for change-of-mind once unsealed, in line with regulation 28(3)(e).
7. Faulty, damaged or not-as-described goods
Under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 goods must be of satisfactory quality, fit for purpose and as described. If they're not, you're entitled to a remedy depending on when you notice:
- Within 30 days of delivery, full refund.
- Within 6 months, one repair or replacement; or refund if neither is possible.
- After 6 months, same options, but you may need to demonstrate the fault was there at delivery.
Email us a photo and a short description and we'll sort it. We cover return postage for any faulty item.
8. Using our products safely
Our candles and wax melts use natural materials but they're still candles. Follow the burning instructions printed on the label: never leave a burning candle unattended; keep away from children, pets and anything flammable; trim the wick to about 5 mm before each lighting; burn on a heat-resistant surface.
Our cosmetic products are for external use only. If you have a known allergy, check the ingredient list before use; patch-test on the inside of your wrist if you're unsure. Discontinue use if irritation occurs.
9. Our liability
We don't limit or exclude our liability for personal injury or death caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else we can't legally limit under English law (including breaches of your statutory rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015).
Otherwise, our liability for losses you suffer is limited to the purchase price of the goods in question. We're not liable for losses we couldn't reasonably have expected.
10. Things outside our control
We're not responsible for failures to perform these terms that result from events outside our reasonable control, strikes, postal disruption, severe weather, illness in the team, and so on. We'll let you know as soon as we can and work out a sensible way forward together.
11. Privacy
Your personal data is handled in line with our privacy policy.
12. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any dispute will be subject to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
